table so we didn't even know who our waiter was. We had FIVE different people come to our. Sadly, we won't be going back.ever! We waited 30 minutes (not kidding, we almost left) for anyone to acknowledge us. We decided to try this place again after having a bad experience a couple of years ago.

So stick to the steaks and hard pass on the Mac and cheese - No matter how much your kiddo loves Mac and cheese! More But if the servers know it’s nasty Mac and cheese, why not warn the customers or tell the cook. I didn’t dispute it like maybe I should have. But there was no “can I get them something else?” Offered and kept the charge on the bill. When I mentioned to our server “they are not a fan of the Mac and cheese.” He replied “yea, not many kids are.” I responded “I didn’t even like it.” He smiled and chuckled a little. Folks, let me tell you about this “Mac and cheese.” It should be called “bland butter noodles.” My kid choose to eat steamed broccoli over the “Mac and cheese.” It was gross-and I’m not a picky eater. I was like, oh come on it’s Mac and cheese you love Mac and cheese. My boys took one bite and refused to take another. We all ordered steaks except for my two kids. Luckily no new people were being sat on the patio, so one all the couples sitting out there finished dining and left, the door didn’t open again. But that table shouldn’t have been used in the first place. Looking back, we should have asked for another table. So every single time that door was opened, we’d get a blast of cold air. Which I was surprised it was open and it was cold and windy. But my family was in town and wanted a steak dinner. We don’t come here often, (maybe 4 times in the past 5-6 years) even though we live near by. The servers here are good, it’s not their fault- but whoever is back there cooking…I think I could do a better job, and I have no culinary training whatsoever. We didn’t want to cause a problem since it was a relative’s birthday, so we basically just waited to leave. I think our server noticed, but didn’t say anything. My dad ordered the same thing, and also agreed that it was bad and barely ate it. All of it was so terrible, I ended up eating some of my husband’s filet and mashed potatoes.

The veggies and rice were also really bad as well. The fish was inedible (overcooked, poor quality, poorly seasoned…), and the sauce was gross. I ordered their new sesame-honey marinated cod with rice and veggies. wasn’t just an ‘off night.’ Their steaks are still good, but don’t bother with their wine, shrimp cocktail, salad, fish entrees, or side dishes besides the mashed potatoes. I've been there twice in the last several months, so I can safely say that it. It used to be a nice place to eat about 5-10 years ago. It’s a shame to say that the quality of Hereford House’s food has gone way down. I now have a reason to visit my sister "regularly!" Hereford House, Shawnee.thanks for a great experience! More Excellent! My brother in law had the same order, and he was equally happy! My wife had crab cakes, steak soup, and the chop it! My sister had the KC Strip, house salad, loaded baked potato, and asparagus.enjoyed everything to the point, she said it's ten minutes from their new home, and the experience cemented the fact they will become "real regulars!" Will they be back.absolutely. I had the 7 ounce filet, with a chop salad, baked potato, and green beans. Honestly, it was a great experience with great food. It was spot on, and a truly great and memorable meal! From the front desk to the very end of the meal, we were treated extremely well! During our meal, we had the House Manager as well as the General Manager stop by our table to say "hi" and to see how we were enjoying our experience. We "dined" at the Hereford House in Shawnee tonight. She just bought a home in Shawnee, and moved there this week! I chose to be here this week, and to introduce her and her husband to one of my favorite steak houses in the KC area. to just pop over for dinner whenever I wanted to! As luck would would have it, my sister recently retired from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and wanted to move to the Kansas City area to be near her son and his family. I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma a few years ago after retiring. I have been a fan of the Hereford House in Shawnee, Kansas for many years.and loved the original one near Union Station downtown Kansas City too.
